If you're motivated by external pressure like myself, setting goals and sharing it is an effective way to keep moving. That said, if you don't visit the goals you've set, it loses its effectiveness.
Since I'm working on my project on the side, I don't have an implicit deadline (like running out of cash) and doing the above has really helped me keep my momentum.
