Going from “this is just for me” to a brand new service: omg.lol

Hi everyone! Just wanted to tell my story, and hopefully get some feedback. Three months ago I wanted to find a short and fun domain that I could use for my personal email address, with the goal of having something unique that I’d actually enjoy giving out to people.

I found the

I really love it. So fun. I also like your copy. I can see people buying it. Better than having a gmx or outlook email address, right?
The main problem now is to promote it. And as it is rather cheap, you cannot spend much budget on it.
Maybe places like TikTok are a route to explore? Fun, creative and young people there.

      Thanks, appreciate the insight!

I can totally see people in TikTok having omg.lol addresses. Good luck!

I think this is very funny, but you'll have challenges selling it to anyone but a youth. That being said, I think you can go to Snapchat (or whatever is cool now) and promote it there. You can also offer something like "the funniest picture a day" delivered to each inbox owner or take it further so you need a couple of friends to combine some cool joke — anything that will make you want to invite your friends and hang out there. (Make email cool again!).

That being said, you can experiment with your messaging and value-prop to cater to a narrower niche of "cool" people.

It would be more clear if you could term this differently "Design your own page, your way, and have fun with it." does the user need to design his own page himself by creating a web page html template and upload it or is there are simple one page builder. If its a page builder, then I would start thinking about what features it offers.

I'm going to disagree and say I'm not sure young and creative people are your target customers, because there's nothing inherently "cool" about the email address, and I don't know any young people who use email enough to be excited by the address, let alone pay for it.

However, that doesn't mean I don't think there's a market for this, just that you're going to have to cast a wide net to find them.

Personally I'd start with whomever's on those I can haz cheezburger-esque meme sites/forums.

As for your landing page, it's more friendly than fun, so it doesn't really communicate the emotion of possessing the email address.

And if the web page and being able to design it is a big selling point, it needs more visual and textual emphasis.

Heh, great idea. And thank you for the other insights as well!
