Good design when you are not a designer?
Hey there!
I know some indie hackers defend the idea that "for your mvp, design does not matter". But honestly, I just don't agree with that. You don't need to have "Apple-level-design" but you need to have something clean that at least doesn't take the user away from your page.
Having said that, what's your method to get good designs when you are not a designer? What's your process and tools?

As a former graphic designer (not a pro on UX tho) I will say that the safest bet to create a simple enough but clean MVP, will be to use simple color combinations, like black, grey, white, and can add a color on top for example different tones of blue or red. A god example of celan UX will be Notion.
I will also suggest to check a bit of color psychology to find a color that identifies with your project . If you want to add color, you can do some research on google to find out what emotions and feelings each color arises on the users mind.
Regarding fonts, I will suggest to use open source fonts that are simple and easy to read, like Helvetica. Strongly suggest to avoid serif fonts, and comic sans 😜
Since it is an MVP, and you are aiming to an apple like style, I think but should be good to go! yYou can always add more personality to the tool once you move away from the MVP stage.
I was actually considering learning the basics of "Figma" just to be able to organize my thoughts somewhere...but it looks like an overkill!
