Hi guys,
I am trying to make more sense of the google analytics data of our startup. We have our main website on mywebsite.com and our blog on blog.mywebsite.com.
I was wondering whether these two should be across two different properties on Google analytics (different tracking code) or the same one (same code). In the latter, I am assuming that we would need to use different views (with filters) to adjudge the traffic only on the blog.
My basic objective is to be able to track the journey of users across our website (mywebsite and blog.website). It will allow me to improve customer capture or so I have heard. I am happy if someone can point me to a good blog as well to understand this - I have read too many and have only ended up confused.
Hi Karthik , it really depends on your needs and site structure. I would recommend same tracking code for both subdomains, this way you can track visitor journey across sub domains.
We run analytics support company, drop us a line at info@hitmetrics.io

Hi Stan,
Sorry for the delayed reply. This is what I was thinking - same tracking domain for both sub domains - however, when I spoke to Google Support, they advised against it and didn't explain themselves.
Thanks for sharing your details. Will reach out for sure.
Best,
Karthik
