Hi IH,
Long time no see (or at least I haven't posted in a while), but this might be an interesting read.
Google will be sunsetting Universal Analytics on the 1st of July, 2023.
The change seems to be driven by a changing ecosystem that calls for less privacy-invasive ways of collecting data.
Humanity is moving in the right direction and Google needs to move with it, hence they state that G4 Analytics is "the new standard".
👉 I went a bit deeper in our blogpost for those that are interested to know how privacy-friendly "the new standard" really is
TL:DR
Google Analytics to sunset Universal Analytics in favor of G4 Analytics.
How privacy friendly is G4 Analytics really?
❌ IP Anonymization: It's still considered personal data
❌ Cookie Banner: You still need an annoying cookie banner
❌ Server Location: You are not in control
✅ Data Storage: Limited to 2 or 14 months
✅ Delete individual data
