Got into a publication and 200+ views but no followers. Tips on how to get more followers?

Hey all,

Glad I found this group, didn't know it existed. I have some free time on my hands and decided to write on Medium and enter the blogging space. I figured making startups is too hard and I better start somewhere so why not Medium.

My first two posts did not get too much traction (as was expected). Before submitting my third post I thought I should try submitting to a publication. I wrote to 5 and got a response from 2. I chose one of them and got published 😇

Quite an amazing moment really. I am absolutely blown away by the viewership. In 4 days, the post has 259 views and 62 reads. It may not seem like much but it is compared to my previous posts.

Anyways I was interested in hearing from people here, how they were able to increase their follower count. The way I see it, I can keep publishing posts and let followers grow organically which I guess is the best option but is it the only option? For the record my third post only got me 2 organic followers.
