Hi there, I just wanted to share that very unexpected thing happened to me this week.
A content manager of a quite big blog ( more than 600k views monthly ) has read one of my posts I wrote a few months ago and offered to pay me a few hundred $/article.
Honestly I was very po
Amazing congrats. Did something similar with React Native last year & was found through that article this year. So I guess we have a similar story. I wrote some blogs past month or so. Now again have a blogging gig.
I guess coding pays more than blogging but blogging reaches more people & everyone knows about you than coding.
Also, how the hell do they let you publish on your own blog despite paying? That's a new one.
I guess to leverage more on that & if you wanna make blogging as a career then start writing more big helpful articles on your website. Share it everywhere. Start a mailing list. You'll have more opportunities sooner rather than later. For example, check out https://flaviocopes.com/
Flavio publishes 1 article per day. It's high quality. He wrote it for a year so 365 posts in 365 days & got a huge mailing list now. Now he makes products & his SEO is top-notch. Any time I Google something, it's highly likely I land up on his blog. You don't need to write 1 post per day but 1 post per week for a year would do. Similar stories of Wes Bos, Kent C. Dodds, etc....
Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks for the insights. This was initially my plan last year - write an article a week for my selfmadedeveloper.netlify.com, but I failed after a few months, because my child was born.
After some months of break it was hard to go back to writing and I never got back on track. I think this paying gig will help me to get back to more regular writing.
Yes, after couple of weeks i can repost the article on my personal blog with a canonical link to the original.🙂
Congrats on the baby. Getting started is the hardest part. I also have to start writing on my own blog soon.
It's a great way to get an audience and also remember more.

Congratulations. I think mailing list can come later. Do you have a place to test out your ideas?
What do you mean by testing my ideas?
which ideas you are going to write about next and if they will work.
I will be writing about React Native technology at this moment. My app / business Ideas will have to be pit aside atm.
Although I think I decided which one to go for.
