Got my first client for my unlimited design service! (but not for my main product)

I recent launched DesignFriend, an unlimited design service (you can check out my first post about it here), and I just got my first client!

However, instead of my main product offering, I'm just doing a one-off project for this client: a new logo and landing page. The story as to how I landed this client actually pretty interesting:

A few days after I made my initial post on IH I was out walking my dog, and I ran into a fellow dog walker. We started chatting, and it turns out that she is managing a rebrand for the small fitness company she works for.

They had a small (but reasonable) budget for a logo and homepage redesign, and she was having trouble finding a good designer. She had tried to find someone on Fiverr, and the results just weren't there. Over the next few days, we talked about what she needed, and while she couldn't afford the full subscription price that DesignFriend advertises, I offered to do the work as a one-off project to 1. start getting some revenue, 2. build a portfolio for DesignFriend, and 3. get a strong testimonial.

The biggest thing y'all called out about our website on my last post was that we needed examples of our work. So I got right on it!

Here's the kicker: she wasn't the dog's owner, just a Rover dog walker filling in for the owners' regular dog walker for that week during her lunch breaks.

In other words, if I had launched a week later or hadn't been out walking my dog those few days, I wouldn't have met her and wouldn't have been able to get my first client.

The designs are coming along great, and I'll share the results once we finish the work, so stay tuned!
