Got my first paying customer 😊

👋 everyone,

I am Koushik, founder of Supademo, and this is the story of how I got my first paid customer on the first day of the public launch.

Firstly, Wow, the feeling is awesome and memorable. I know it's a small win, but it feels like a big one in my heart 💜

A little backstory

I launched the beta version of Supademo(a tool to create interactive product demos in minutes) on Oct 8th.

After running the beta for 5 Weeks+, I officially made the public launch on Monday.

Some stats so far:

  • 300 signups
  • 200+ user demos
  • 4 Paid customers

So, how did I get here?

I tried different strategies to get the initial word out and find the beta users. (mainly in the first 2 weeks)

These worked great for me:

  • Hackernews(71 upvotes): Huge spike in visitors. Make sure your product is ready to be tested by people who go technical.
  • Reddit: r/SideProject (72 upvotes)
  • Cold DMs and emails to experienced Indiehackers for feedback(%15 effect ).

Fortunately, so many users found the product helpful. So, I started getting tons of feedback. I took calls with some of them, and some sent me feedback through emails and DMs.

I am so grateful to everyone who took the time to try the product and give feedback and suggestions. 🙏

So I quickly aggregated the feedback in one place and rolled out the most requested features one by one. I shared product updates through email every week with the users.

The users who saw me implementing their feedback trusted me and became my first paid customers.

Lesson learned:

As Indiehackers, we know how precious is our time and resources. So when you are starting, instead of finding ways to get more users, find the right ones, listen to them, and optimize the product accordingly.

I know this is just the start, but I am excited about the upcoming journey. Much more things to learn!

If you want to connect and chat more, ping me on Twitter. My DMs are always open. 😊

@koushikmarka its great to see your have get the clients. I have also seen someone goes out from your tool. I wish you best of luck for your future customers.

if you are facing high customer churn it means people leaving your membership then you can use churnfree.com to get the results why they are leaving and this tool can also retain your customers back and it can save up to 46% churned requests!

I was very impressed with your Supademo product. I used it, and it has a very neat and practical design. Also, there is an issue with the user experience. I think when the extension is installed, instead of opening a new page, refreshing the previous page could be more desirable.

I also want to start a new business, so your experience is definitely very useful for me. If you don’t mind, may I ask you a few questions?

I could not access your LinkedIn and Twiter Direct; they were not open to the public, so I have to comment here, and I hope you answer me. 🙏🙏

Congratulations Koushik! If you will, what are you planning to do in the next few weeks to increase traffic and revenue? I'm actually at the demo stage of my new fitness and crypto app, so your info was very helpful!

My app couples randomly generated fitness workouts with crypto reward payments. I wrote a few health and fitness books and thought it would be cool to create an app based on my research and experience.

If you're wondering or would like to demo my app here is the link: https://admfitnesseffect.glide.page/dl/74c4fe

    Thanks for the great information!
