Got my First Paying User

I launched ColdMessageGPT (https://shorturl.at/gmzOS) about 2 weeks ago. For the launch, I:

  • Marketed To Reddit, Hackernews, Twitter with little traction.

  • Cold Messaged individuals. People were either very interested or very disinterested in the product.

  • Got some helpful advice and feature requests.

I was cold messaging people left and right. But hand-crafting each message was getting tiresome. I wrote some scripts which automated this....and I thought others might benefit from this too. Hence, I created ColdMessageGPT.

Learning about marketing by doing is incredible. I sprayed and prayed to a lot of different places and got attention in places I wouldn't have thought of. Most users didn't upgrade to the paid tier but one did.

This is all I needed to stay focused and Motivated. ❤️

Hey, you're using my tool ExtensionPay to take payments in your extension. Nice!

Just wanted to say that once you refine the product a little bit then ProductHunt might be a good place to market your extension.

Also, try to get as many positive reviews on the Chrome web store as possible. That really helps with Google's algorithms and helps other users find your product.

Hey, Thanks for the suggestions!! I really liked using Extension Pay, hope you continue working on it.

I'd love to know more about your cold messaging strategy. I'm writing a piece on cold messaging for Decoding SaaS newsletter and I'm looking for some products to feature there for free that have made considerable progress with cold messaging.

Right now, it's completely spray and pray. As I talk to more users, I'll build a customer persona which will improve the results. I'm happy to talk to you further.

This kind of reminds me of Cold Email Studio - you should take a look and see how you can differentiate yourself from them, or maybe get some inspiration!

Thanks man!! Cold Email studio offers a lot of things but their prices are extreme as well with 5000$/month. I'm offering a self serve solution for 5$/month.

I'll look at what I can add to my offering with low overhead to provide more value.

Sounds great! Wish you the best of luck - sounds like you're on the right track

First of all Congratulations! Stay focussed and motivated.
One query on your approach - How did you select the users for cold outreach?

    1. 1

This has very wide usecases. So, I posted in multiple subreddits to gauge interest and then messaged people in subreddits where I got some interest.

    Congratulations on your achievement!

I'm still experimenting with price points. Currently, it's a 7day free trial and then 5$ per month subscription.

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing some steps you used in getting a paying user.

I also launched my own SaaS Webapp, logomakerr.ai (https://logomakerr.ai/) which generates a logo instantly in under 5 minutes or less.

Hopefully I'll get more clients and tractions using your suggestions.

    Hi @iwillcodetodeath

You may want to improve the Overview on your Chrome web store page. The first sentence is duplicated. Some of the others do not read well.

    All the best
