Got my first PAYING user! My top tips for you

My product: EazyPay.me It makes invoicing simple.

Here are my top tips to turn free users into paying customers.

Watch your users actually use your product

Family and friends.
First watch your family and friends sign up and try your product. It’s really tempting to help and prompt them on where to click next. DONT! You won’t be sitting next to your users all the time. Just put the laptop in front of them and watch.

Record your users
Inspectlet enables you to record your users’ sessions. They have a free tear and it’s easy to set up. Watch every user, see where they click, when they seem lost and if they encounter any bugs.

Seeing where your users encounter difficulty and at which point they give up and leave your website is vital. Doing the above could find:

  • Bugs! You may think you’ve tested thoroughly, but somehow your users will find something to break.
  • UX problems. Something you find intuitive, because you made it, could actually be the opposite for others.
  • What your users are not seeing. Are your users ever seeing your pricing page and premium features?

Getting more users to watch

Sadly, most of us don’t have an unlimited number of family and friends. Use Google Ads to boost your user base.

At first you may want to avoid spending money on ads, but the amount you learn watching users could be well worth it. You might be surprised at how cost effective Google Ads are to get some initial users.

Sell your product well

Turn your landing page into a converting machine!
There are better articles for landing pages, so I won’t go into that here. I found this very useful: https://www.indiehackers.com/@pedrocortes/694e691963

Exit intent pop up
When users are about to hit the back button you have one final chance to win the sale. Creating a Pop up with an enticing deal is your shot-to-nothing.

Offer discounts
If a user doesn’t sign up to your premium package straight away, it doesn't mean they won’t with some encouragement. Send them an email a couple of days after sign up with a promotional code for money off your premium package.

Make you premium features visible to free users
Assuming you’re following a freemium model, make sure all your premium features are visible to all your free users. In fact, when designing a new feature, make sure it’s something your users want, and think about how you would position it for maximum visibility to your free users.

That’s it. Let me know what you think, and any feedback on EazyPay.me is always welcome.
