GPTMyDay: Moving to $0.99/month after feedback

Context: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/show-ih-gptmyday-the-easiest-way-to-use-ai-to-plan-your-day-db22e23b26

Given feedback, we decided to commit the following updates

  • Charging only $0.99/month for the first 100 users (live)
  • Allowing for the service to be free but limited with ads (coming soon)

Check it out below and leave feedback please!

Question.. is $0.99 (before fees 2.9% + 30c (and maybe taxes)) per month, all the hours you've put in, really worth it?

For the first 100 users (more than halfway through that already), seems good so far!

I'm hinting at increasing your price. It will also increase your perceived value.

        1. 1

$1.99-$3.99 instead? It was previously $6.99

What about experimenting with pricing even more. You could increase the price by $0.50 for every new customer:

            • 1st customer: $0.99
            • 2nd customer: $1.49
            • 3rd customer: $1.99
              and so on...

This is probably difficult to implement, but it would create a sense of urgency. I better subscribe today because the price may be much higher tomorrow.
Alternatively, you could apply the same strategy to batches of customers, let's say, every 10 customers. Or increase the price by $0.50 every day, or every week.
You'll then have enough data to determine the ideal price.

That's a great idea actually we'll try it out thank you!

Seems like an interesting idea, but the landing page could use some design work. It doesn't quite feel like a full service I would want to give my money to. Also, I'd show some examples of output, and make them easier to read. I'm on a 30" monitor and can barely see the plan for the day in the screenshots - remove the frames and just showcase the content.

Can't win them all huh haha but thank you for checking it out and for the feedback! We'll make some updates to our examples + zooming in on our screenshots

Just wanted to know how it is going after you introduced pricing? What could you have done better and what worked as you imagined?

Looks like you just joined 14 hours ago so it's perfect I got your time and attention :D

      • After pricing we saw some more traffic (still less than 100 subscribers but getting close and we're going to keep it at $0.99/month for the first 100).
      • We could have started with the $0.99/month for our first launch but since we did not share the service on a bunch of large platforms yet (coming soon :D) we're ok with the medium set of users to test on and gain more feedback to iterate towards a better product before doing so.
      • What worked was lowering the price hahah and making some simple copyrighting + product design updates! Also, people hate ads, so it's easier to feel incentivized to subscribe.

    Hey,

I wrote a whole post about this particular subject so rather than just repeating myself, I'll just link it here - https://www.indiehackers.com/post/youll-never-succeed-with-5-products-raise-your-damn-prices-552e384d91

I agree with @agota here (especially given the feedback we received so far).

That's why we're building an entirely free version that we can still monetize through ad publishing + direct publishing (where we charge companies to advertise on the platform).

Most will want the service for free, but the higher the traffic, we can possibly transition to more of a B2B model where we target businesses via our adverting model (just an idea but got feedback on it so far and it seems like a potential way to go).
