Grow your network in the next 72h

Here is how you can build your network of top executives, VCs or mentors.

I’ll show you how I reach out to people to get what I want in life.

TLDR: You send them a video that you want to send them a book, as a gift.
I’m not an expert on this, but it worked for me.

STEP 1. Pick a good book that you like (and it's relevant)

I was doing this a lot once the WFH thing hit so I picked: “18 minutes: Find your focus, master distractions and get the right things done” by Peter Bergman.

STEP 2. Record a video

Full video below, but the script went like this:

“Your net worth is your network so I’m building a network of cool people in Europe. And as a start, I want to send you this book for free. Let me know what the best address to ship it to.”

Rember: Make it less than 60 secs or so.

Use your phone and @loom to record videos because you have a better camera and mic there. Plus if you’re moving it’s more engaging.

Bonus tip: put a sticky note on the book and show it near your face in the first sec of your video. So they will be intrigued to watch it.

STEP 3. Send a cold email with video inside

Send a normal cold email like you normally would. The text inside should be super simple like:

SUBJECT: reason for contact
BODY: "Hey Name, made this quick video for you explaining my reason for contact."

STEP 4. Send the book

So what to do when they respond? You set them a book from amazon to their address.

Then you can wait a week to maybe chat about the book. And BOOM you’re making friends.

I did that with a few folks and it turned out to be awesome.

This is a guaranteed way for you to stand out in your “potential friend’s” inbox.

Hey Stan, thanks for the share. It's always great to hear what others are doing to attract or grow their network. However, I'm always a little skeptical of this sort of approach. If someone is sending me something with "not strings attached" it def. means they want something. I think and honest reach out via email or LinkedIn is the best. But in doing so be very clear on what it is you're wanting or have to offer. ✌🏻

    pretty cool approach, stan.

sam parr used a similar strategy, but more personalized.

so when sam wanted noah kagan to speak at the hustle con, he figured out that noah did like using "the magic bullet blender".

and sam just bought one and sent it right to noah:)
