Growing local business without word of mouth.

Hi IndieHackers,

I'm having trouble growing my freelancing gig because local businesses around me get clients mostly via word of mouth. The demographic is usually a higher age.

How do you build trust online. Am I limited to mingling and attending local events?

      Hey dock90,
      I'm freelancing web design. Haven't really gotten involved in freelancing platforms. Traction has mostly been through word of mouth. Is this the normal grind in most places around the world?
