I never really liked freemium for bootstrapped SaaS, and from my previous experience, trial based plans convert better.
So now for my new startup https://competitors.app I have a 30 days trial, and if in 3 months the user didn't convert, he will move to freemium ( monitoring 1 competitor for free). (after 30 days trial, user will be moved to Free).
This will give still keep him activate and receive some notifications from my product.
Freemium plan is not shown on the pricing page.
What do you think?
I don't see the point... If you're not marketing the freemium aspect, why bother absorbing that cost?
Your users already know it's a 30 day free trial and they're not expecting any free plan
What about ditching the free plan but keeping the notifications? The notifications would remind the user about your product and then when they go to look at them they'll see their trial has expired and will need to upgrade to get the full value of your product
