Perhaps others do this but I hadn't heard of it. Figured I'd share here:
Create a reddit username with the name of your project and ideally the TLD at the end so people know where to go to access it. For example, I did HeadlessTemplatesCom
Use F5Bot to target specific keywords and phrases to your niche. Mine is focused around headless CMS's so I only target "headless CMS" and that sends me one or two posts to my inbox daily.
Go provide substantive responses and help to those asking questions about your niche.
That's it.
Doing this, I've gotten 2 signups, one acquisition offer, and a good dofollow backlink before even launching my project. And I've only answered a handful of questions, though I do try to be extremely thorough.
Edit: Follow me on Twitter @laissezaf if you want more of this kind of stuff.
Good luck!
Do you know any alternative to F5Bot for other communities and websites (IH, Twitter ...)
syften.com does Indie Hackers, Twitter, Quora, Slack and others
thanks, looking at it as well!
I saw this tool which does Twitter but haven’t tried it yet: https://mentionfunnel.com/
perfect, thanks!
If you end up trying it out then let me know if you have any feedback🙏
hey @amosbastian, so I signed up and set up my audience. I couldn't find where leads are listed initially after creating the account but now after coming back at it I can see that they are in "Mentions". I also forgot to check back the tool. Maybe you can send me an email every few days when there's an update?
Overall it looks pretty cool! I like that you pre-defined a few communities, some of which I also didn't know before.
Thanks for the feedback, Filip 😁 I definitely need to work on the onboarding, so this is useful.
Every Sunday it should send an email with an overview of your mentions, but you are probably right and it would be better to do this more often.
Hey Filip, I'm building a tool similar to F5Bot but for Twitter: https://tinymentions.io/ . With it, you can know when someone tweets about the keywords or topics you define, get email alerts about specific situations (e.g. when a founder tweets about knowledge bases), identify top users tweeting about topics you define, etc. It would be awesome if you could try it out and share your feedback with me!
Thanks! I'm trying it out!
Thanks for f5bot. Also you can track any mentions of your brand in blogs, news, e.t.c by using https://www.google.com/alerts
thanks
This is awesome. Genius ideas are always so simple and easy to explain.
Wow, thanks for this
Solid insight, copying right away.. thanks for sharing.
A very smart strategy indeed. Really smart that it made me smile. I will give it a try... :)
https://f5bot.com/ looks like exactly what I was looking for
Nice, thanks for the great info man!
Started doing this even before I finished reading the complete article !!
Can't believe I didn't know this simple yet powerful hack.
Nice! Will try this today for my new App!
+1 for your F5Bot, thanks for sharing!
This is an amazing idea, looks like I have a new idle game to play with f5bot keywords :)
Love this idea. You get initial outreach and position yourself as a taught leader in the niche. You can also expand it across various channels using social monitoring tools like Brand24.
Nice little growth! Never heard of Lobsters before as well.
Thank you! this looks like a great tool to use in order to be directed to relevant discussions. Do you have any other tools that you would recommend?
