...without Blackhat tactics or being Spammy.
We just launched, and we're trying to boost our organic (ASO) search. Which is really challenging.
Trying to break through the noise when you're brand new is like tweeting with no audience.
There's a lot of websites, tools, services to get initial downloads / reviews. But, are any really worthwhile?
Emails. Start with cold emails.
There are tons of tips, but here some of them:
Don't write emails that take more than 30sec to be read and use tiny emails to measure the time to read. (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tinymails/flpmjncnhickgfkjgmeloenfjgpgcpni)
Write like Hemingway. Concise and active sentences. (use Hemingwayapp.com to get used to that style)
Best cold emails don't look like cold-emails. They might come as advice, suggestions, type spotting, conferences heads up.
On good subjects – write subjects that either arouse curiosity OR looks helpful, but never both at the same time.
Working on that now! I've got a long list 😳
My advice is: post on relevant subreddits. Relevant to the platform the app is for (r/androidapps, for example) and the niche it covers (eg. r/gardening or something)
^ also a must
Look to expand to your closest networks.
Whichever product or service you've created - there is a need assumedly. So find where those communities and start becoming apart of it.
I can tell you understand you need to be genuine - so take that mindset with you wherever you're showcasing your project.
Thanks! Completely agree in finding that market, wherever it lives (on the interwebs).
Hello my is Jonathan
sales solves all problems.
Agree. But this is sort of a chicken and egg issue. Before there are sales, how do you create awareness to then get those sales.
I think awareness stems from sales. After all, you don't want 'awareness' if it isn't from your target audience.
With sales on the other hand, you are learning from your potential customers instead of preaching to them, so the amount you learn is greater. And you don't need any awareness to pick up the phone or write an email.
I agree... but. I guess what I am looking for is that in-between stage. Before you get momentum. It's tough to get those first few installs. I've read all the, "how we got our first 100 customers" posts. But, I thought I would still ask, as folks here have practical experience.
Also, our app is a bit different. Think instagram. There are no sales. So it's about usage, growth, and engagement.
