Each time a new channel or platform arrives, there's a big opportunity to build an audience. Facebook platform was a huge seismic event, and Discord recently hit an inflection point with user growth. Many similarities, from social graphing, tracking invites, multiple surfaces.
But it's an example of "realtime" communities, synchronous chat and messaging, which is different from most other things.
I was wondering if anyone here has experience using Discord as a channel for growth, or community marketing?
I just launched some 'chatgames' - games you can play with your friends right inside Discord. Like a virtual escape room and choose your own adventure game. In "Asylum Escape" you chat to solve puzzles together, talk to in-game characters, collect clues and try to escape!
The games are great for social fun to do with your friends, or remote team building:

Come on indie hackers and take a game break!
I've been thinking about this a lot. Discord is increasingly popular even for non-gaming purposes (it helps that it functions better than Slack). I suspect you probably want to look for existing communities (e.g. most Youtube content creators have their own discord) and see if you can add your app to those servers. You win by having more users and they win by having more engagement on the server.
