Growth Initiatives vs Features

"Focus much more on growth initiatives than product improvements or new features."

Read this from one of the posts here. The OP didn't go into any detail as to what this meant. Yet as the software engineer founder, I'm now wondering if this is the bottleneck to my growth issues.

Can someone smarter than me talk about what a growth initiative is that wouldn't be an additional value add to the existing product?
