Guys, do you Struggle With Your Back?

Hey just trying to validate if anyone would be interested in what i'm working on?

Let me know if you are struggling with your back and if my website would help you.

I've developed a framework for core strengthening to help your lower back.

In the 7 day video series I talk about what you can do at home especially during the current lockdown.

Would love your feedback, thanks! (Ex-Backpain Sufferer)

I use to have issues with my back. Then I started cycling. However, I remember the horrible pain that lasted for days as a result of sitting at a computer all day. I think you may be onto something good.

One bit of advice from a cycling book I read. Give some tips for now that do not require training. For example, on a book to bicycle faster, it gave 3 tips to gain speed now. Tuck your elbow, lean forward more, and power over the last part of a hill. Having that will give quick results to keep people hungry for more.

Interesting stuff! I'm the co-founder of Memoir Health (memoirhealth.com) - we work with a lot of unions and employers where manual labor is a big part of the job. Chronic pain is one of the most prevalent (and costliest) issues we see.

Some initial feedback - don't make the site about you. There are enough "gurus" in the chronic pain space; I'm sure this wasn't your intention but focus on selling the product and the experience. This is a market rife with charlatans and false promises and consumers have seen more than enough.

If you are highly targeting a specific demographic, i.e. software dev types, tie this work to real life. For example, when we work with warehouse workers, we teach certain movements in the context of how to lift boxes through the glutes, rather than an overextended back bend to plug into upper-body strength.

Hi Mansoor, thanks for the feedback. Yea, not looking to come across as 'guru' at all. I wasn't keen on being on the homepage to be honest but wasn't sure which way to go i.e. generic product or my story. However I'm in the process of updating this as we speak.

Are you saying I should remove the section 'About Me'? A little confused here as it's my story that's all.

Would you be up for a quick call, would be good to talk to you as we are in a similar space, thanks.

Yes, "back pain" is one of the most searched terms in the world. You definitely have potential. A couple of thoughts:

    1. I wouldn't limit the market to just software devs, from what I think I read on other posts somwehere here. You can still target them with specific landing pages, but the market is huge maybe you can start a little more generic and then focus on a submarket once you discover which type of customers you're attracting the most.

    2. You hero image is not attractive enough (you / the guy in the picture is even slouching!)

I used to have back pain, till I started doing deadlifts, running. So I get it's a big problem :)

      Hey, thanks for the feedback.

      1. I do seem to be switching between these ideas, i.e. target devs or be generic. I think you've helped me with my decision, thanks.

      2. Thanks for the lovely compliment :) Yea I do need to change the hero image. Ideally I don't won't to be on the front cover, however as the site is about me, I feel I need to show myself on the front? What do you think?

Yep, since the lockdown, i realised that I can get away with just doing deadlifts at home to maintain my strength and keep aches and pains away.... But I strongly don't recommend deadlifts as a first exercise if you have a weak back, too risky.

Running is something I used to do often, however not something I can do much of now so tend to cycle. Running impacts on the discs at every step. Treadmill's the worst for this.

Hey @Mits, Yeah, you're right. If someone's issue is the discs, then running is not a good idea at all. I do cycling these days too because it's way more fun than running and it's low impact, but I think the riding position could worsen back pain if not properly setup, specially on road bikes with an aggressive forward position, since the lower back could be rounded for hours.

A reason why I think you have a market is because something I clearly remember is that I would pay ANYTHING to get rid of that pain. It's the worst because it's constant and it kinda ruins your life. In my case it lasted several months till I finally addressed it with a combination of getting a stronger core (deadlifts, squats, planks, etc), which as you mentioned, should be started slowly, a new mattress (I don't know if you address this on your site, but it could be the main culprit, in my case, it was the No.1 reason), lower back support on my work chair and frequent walks so I don't sit for many hours at a time.

Regarding the 1. there's nothing wrong with addressing a specific market. Actually, it could be the smart thing to do, since there are a lots of competitors out there and at least you being a dev can give you the differentiator here, because devs will identify with your persona. But before doing that, I'd give it a shot to several sub-markets (ie. with specific targeted pages within your site) and pay attention to the trend. That will help you identify what's working better and what to pursue.

        Anyways, best of luck! :)

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated :)

Hey, im having chronic back-pain and I think youre tackling a problem that many people have.

However, I consider myself as well trained guy and my back-pain is a relict from my youth, where I used to sit a lot in front of the pc. Whenever I can, i try to change my posture. Would be nice to be able to finish most of the tasks while walking in the park.
Sometimes I knee and put a pillow under my knees. Maybe there is something more comfortable to knee on than a pillow?

Hi @Fellfalla sorry to hear you have chronic back-pain.

When I had this no chair would help me, until I came across the kneeling chair.

Have you tried this? It takes the weight off your lower back which helps when you need to sit.

I've written a blog post about it here:

Can I ask, could you elaborate on what you mean by saying a well trained guy? Do you do lots of sports or did you mean weight training? thanks
