As an athlete, a lot of Bolt's habits revolved around nutrition, hydration, and recovery. 🍲🚰💤

Bolt kept his meals to a minimum during the day, eating just enough to not be tired.

He made sure to stay hydrated throughout the day.

  • “I try not to eat too much up to a workout, but I stay hydrated.’”
-"I drink Gatorade throughout the day because it’s so hot in Jamaica,” Bolt, a rep for Gatorade says. “You have to keep it up throughout the day.”

He ate a diet with lots of vegetables. 🥦

'My coach wants me to eat a lot of vegetables, so I eat more of that than anything else. I’ll eat broccoli, but I’m not a big fan.’

Daily core training ⏱

When training, Bolt spends 90 minutes every day in the gym, concentrating on core strength, flexibility and explosiveness.

Routine philosophy 📖

'Easy is not an option. No days off. Never quit. Be fearless…Skill is only developed by hours and hours of work.'

On rest 💤

As important as a healthy diet and his sprint training is, Bolt says getting enough rest is his number one priority. Without it, your body cannot operate at maximum potential. Bolt is a fan of sleeping in and getting enough sleep.

Hardest part of his routine - managing cravings 🧨

“When you start with a coach and there’s a weight you need to stay at, and every day you have to weigh yourself and watch what you eat. When you get your cravings, you just have to look the other way. That’s the hardest part.”

On relaxation 🍷

Bolt says he’s addicted to the video game Call of Duty. He also enjoys reggae music and sometimes DJs.

On managing stress 👿

‘Worrying gets you nowhere. If you turn up worrying about how you’re going to perform, you’ve already lost. Train hard, turn up, run your best and the rest will take care of itself.’

Reminds me a lot of Ben Franklin's routine. But man Bolt gets a lot of sleep OMG

    1. 1

Yeah I was shocked. Made me feel less guilty about focusing on my sleep. haha

What most surprised you about Bolt's routine? For me it was the fact he woke up so late. Makes me feel a bit better about trying to get more sleep. 😂
