Hard, but possible goal for starting a community?

We're considering starting a community. We haven't precisely landed on the details yet. It would probably be a slack community. We'd drop product development for the moment and go full-time on this.

I want to set a goal for growing the community over the next 3 weeks. Our starting point is 0.

What's a hard, but doable, week 1, week 2, week 3 goal?

I'm thinking 125, 400, 1k.

Am I insane? Am I too timid?

Just wanted to drop a blanket thank you to those who replied. Can't reply to each one at the moment, but appreciate the insight.

It depends on how much value you're delivering.

Will the community just be open-ended discussion, or will you prompt folks and guide things? Will there be any events exclusive to members?

Have you done any work leading up to this (e.g., building a mailing list to launch to)? If not, those numbers will be difficult to hit unless you have a really solid idea/program for your community.

    More importantly, why those numbers?

I wouldn't think in terms of numbers, no community member wants to be treated as one. When metrics become goals, members will feel that.

What are the possibilities you are offering to your members?

When they enter the room, what do they hope they can become?

    It's very hard to tell.

Once I got from 0 to 1000 in the matter of days, recently I struggled to get to 100 over 3 months.

It all depends and what is your market, what value you are proposing etc.
