Has anyone clicked your linky footer?
You know those linky footers that are on every site? Yeah the one all the way down there at the bottom of every SaaS site you look at. Could you kind people take a look at your analytics and tell me if anybody actually clicks anything in them?
My theory is they are there to lend credence to the website, to say "yes, this is a real website by legitimate business peoples," but that they serve no functional purpose other than that.
Am I wrong about this?

I will say that I frequently use the footer when I can. I feel like it displays more information than shitty drop downs on navbars, I wouldn't say you're wrong because design is respective to the end user and we're all different but I do believe it serves its purpose as a more in-depth way to navigate.
Also, this question is not stupid(actually a great question) but you gave me the option :)
Yeah, interesting. That's true it contains all of the site's important links in one place without confusing design getting in the way.
On coredacao.com there's a surprising amount of clicks on the footer, but it is mostly on our blog widget.

I have a data point.
I explore the footer links cover to cover because I'm genuinely interested. Especially the About, FAQ, Support/Help, and Blog. I also read the terms of service if I decide to buy the product or service.
All this information provides a lot of insight into how the product works and what it can do, as well as on the company and company culture.
