My startup needs an independent review collection platform, but tools like TrustPilot and Reviews.io are way overpriced.
Charging hundreds of dollars a month to allow you to collect and display reviews is nuts.
Has anyone thought about starting a similar tool for small businesses and startups? Or does anyone know of one that offers better value?
Did you try producthunt.com? I think you can post your product there and collect reviews for free. It might be good for exposure too if your product ranks well.
Actually the main goal for us is to show star ratings when we show up in Google. Only about 20 different review sites are accepted for this.
It says $45 per month for reviews.io. Also, simply lowering the price may not be enough to attract users. You should have some differentiating features also.
That's only for their smallest plan with hardly any review invites. Their small business plan was $159 last time I checked. I think there's a gap in the market for a better value, simple version. It's a huge market and star ratings in Google are a big benefit. I would consider building an indie version if I didn't already run two businesses.
Doesn't sound like something too complicated to develop, growth on the other hand can be more challenging as well as becoming a certified google seller rating platform.
