I recently learnt that that YouTube videos are a great way to rank up on the search engines. I'm trying to do this for Brutask, by doing screen recording using Loom and creating a YouTube playlist for the same.
Has anyone tried this method before or have you created any product videos/playlist on YouTube? It will really help me a lot if you can share some references!
Thanks for your help! 🙌

Hi Siddhita - I am working on a product that will help make these types of videos. I would love if you could post your progress as you do this, especially any difficulties you run into, as I would follow it very closely.
In my opinion super.so does a great job in making these walkthrough type videos and have evolved with a nice intro screen image. There are some other pretty exciting products in this space that can help you - Tella, is one I like a lot.
The trick is more the process, not the recording software - it can be very time consuming and many times people will be nervous recording themselves for the first time. YouTube basics (and personal selling) suggest that you record your smiling self so people can have a human context. In my opinion I think this is a good idea to anchor the intro, but can be very brief and even just be a picture.
Then moving into the presentation you want to structure your presentation the right amount. If you record your first take you probably will have a following version that is shorter and more focused (we've all done PowerPoint presentations). But really we need to get videos recorded, done, and posted and move on to business stuff, not recording multiples takes. So the content of the presentation needs to be planned and outlined in advance - the good news is you probably already have this outline. It might be a feature section of your landing page. So basically you tell about the feature and why it is important and you record your screen doing the action inside the product. Think product demo - no need to actually show stuff like profile pic uploading... stick to the things that people care about or are tricky to understand and need clarification and try to make a different recording for each topic and have them clearly labeled in YouTube or whatever links to it so users can choose the ones that are relevant to them. Your outline you made for yourself can be placed in the YouTube description with minimal editing, hopefully. Cross t's and dot i's on all the YouTube checklist stuff...
Sorry to rant and / or state obvious stuff, but I care and hopefully something in this proves of some usefulness!!!
This is just scratching the surface and would love to continue the conversation is further comments, or with anyone else reading - again I would love to hear anyone's frustrations with doing this. How many takes did you end up with / hours spent on recording? Did it go well or did you feel it was a task you ended up too involved in?
Trying to do the same thing. So far, pretty quiet but the theory is sound.
We're a financial scenario planning app - and we've started doing scenario tear downs (much like a physical product teardown) and started posting these online.
Not the sexiest space (finance) but I think half the battle is just chipping away at these on a regular basis and being consistent, and getting enough content to create a playlist of these.
