Have a play with Salesforce for free

Did you know you can sign up for a Salesforce account for free, and have a poke around to see what all the fuss is about??

Sign up at https://developer.salesforce.com/signup, one important(ish) point to note is you can and probably should make sure your username and email address are different. If you do this you can sign up for as many accounts as you like!

The main limitation is that not much data can be entered and you're not allowed to use it for production, but other than that it's fully featured. In fact when you build an app for the Salesforce marketplace you'll build it in one of these free accounts.
