Have an app with decent user base. How do I grow it further?

I launched a personal finance management app back in May 2017. It has generated 50,000+ downloads until now and the active users love the app.
I've been using only Google Ads and a bit of Facebooks Ads until now and got 40,000+ installs through these but the quality of installs has been terrible.
From my Google/Firebase analytics, I'm able to see that majority of the users install it, don't even open the app and uninstall it almost immediately.
Increasing the cost per click bid also didn't result in anything except me losing money faster.
So I need advice on the following...
- Are Google/Facebook Ads worth it and what is the best way to get the most from them?
- I want to explore ways to grow more organically. Where do I start?

Have you tried using Admob Ads to promote your app? My past experience with Admob was good.
