Have you ever been on a podcast?

Hey! I am going go to be on my first podcast this Wednesday and I am a bit nervous. What was your experience being on a podcast and what were the advantages/disadvantages of the experience?

For context, I will be talking about a project I am working on :)

Congrats! That should be exciting, and hopefully, even a little fun!

I was just on my first one last week, so I'm not a pro by any means but I think a few things I'd suggest:

    • Go slow. I talk way too fast when I'm anxious
    • Have a couple stories or points ready. If it's not going super well, these can help you refocus the conversation.
    • Remember, it's a conversation! Much more fun to listen when there is real discussion and back and forth questioning.
    • It's great to share really specific actionable things. I think I might have dropped the ball on this and said too vague of advice. "These are the steps I took to grow my email list" v. "You should grow an email list!" (For example)

    Good luck!

Congrats! I've done a few and agree with matt on the "talk slow" bullet, it helps you to relax.

      Good luck!

To add on to Matt’s excellent recommendations:

    • Wear headphones
    • Have a glass of water ready
    • Don’t worry if you need to stop and think. Long pauses or mistakes can be edited out.
    • If you need to cough, do it away from the mic
    • Record somewhere quiet where you won’t be distracted

    You’ll do great!
