We're building a landing page builder thats driven by an API and I'm currently looking into who we should market to first.
During this, I thought of a question I didn't know the answer to which is "has anyone considered switching between landing page builders?". If you've been in this boat and you're happy to share your experience, please drop me a message :)
Yes, I use different landing page builders for different clients. I also change builder based on budgets and requirements.

Thanks a lot for sharing you experience and blog Olly! I considered a no-code audience as the target audience initially however my teammate (husband who is a coder) and I are going back and forth on a few options.
I was recently a customer in this market. Tried Wix. Drove me crazy mostly due to payment issues.
Tried light sail, but I don’t love word press which was the only option I knew anything about. I feel constrained in WP.
Ended up just going with an open source template.
There may be a niche for people who aren’t afraid to code, but don’t want to start from scratch. Well built templates, but importantly really well documented. Maybe a suite of training videos tailored to the templates. You could throw in hosting to help generate MRR.

In line with the training videos, I've also had feedback that guidance for particular templates and sections would be useful e.g. when you should and shouldn't have a FAQ section.
We've been using Instapage for a few years. Pros: simple interface, template blocks, decent analytics. Cons: limited design options makes very flat, dated-looking pages, fairly pricey (although we do have like... 30 LPs on it and multiple domains).

Would you consider switching builders for some/all LPs?
My pleasure! I would... I think especially if there is the ability to make more dynamic animations or simple effects like parallax. I've been looking at carrd, but in their case, it seems almost "too simple" for what I'd like to do.

I'm actually in the same struggle. I built Zlides on Squarespace and VenturesList on Carrd. Currently thinking to put everything on Carrd.

If I would create a landing page builder, I would definitely focus on the pain points all other landing page builders have.
No LP builder is perfect, yours could be the one!
Re your question, I bet people ask themselves all the time, 'Oh, this platform does not do this and that, etc..'
