Have you ever worked with an SEO agency or expert?

I WAS a SEO guy for almost 2 years, professionally in a team of a very skilled agency — the things that I've learned are either mildly obsolete now (link building, etc.) but some are timeless: 1) create content that users want to read, 2) structure website in a crawlable way, 3) structure content in a proper way, 4) make your website work WITH the search engine, not against it, even at the cost of the "shiny design" solutions.

Yes, most aren't that good. I know more about SEO than them :)

That said, there are some good folks out there.

I hired John Locke from Lockedown Design & SEO (lockedownseo.com) to help with one of my friend's websites, and he did a really good job restructuring it to perform well for local SEO.

Also, I follow Barry Schwartz from seroundtable.com & rustybrick.com. If I were to hire more SEO help, I'd either ask him, or scan through his YT videos to see who he's interviewing.

Additionally, I may poke through the Reddit /r/bigseo/ subreddit to see if there were any other SEO peeps worth talking too.

SEO agencies really charge high prices. I wonder if it's really worth it.
Of course, not every SEO agency or expert will be of the same quality.
