Have you executed a rebrand before?

Currently considering rebranding our web app to name and having it live on a brand new domain. Aside from the obvious step like correctly setting up the domain redirects for all of your content, what other steps did you end up taking to avoid confusion and let your existing customers know?

Thanks!

I rebranded just recently and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

The biggest thing is communication -- in all forms.

Here's what I'd suggest focusing on:

    1. Let your customers know when the re-brand is happening (start a few weeks before the day) and what it means to them (will they be grandfathered in? do they have to pay more? etc.). Biggest thing is to keep them in the loop so they feel totally secure that they will be looked after during the process. (You could even consider giving them a 're-brand' special offer just for migrating over with you.)

    2. find ALL the places where you've posted info about your product and make the updates all in one day. (I forgot one place and I had someone come to me many months later very confused about what I did. 😝)

You can also do a marketing campaign around the re-brand and focus on why this rebrand is helpful for the customer. You can use this opportunity of the rebrand to educate them on your product too.

Good luck with the re-brand if you choose to do it.

It was the best decision I made despite my blunder of forgetting to update my new rebrand everywhere online. 😀

Thank you for sharing, this is super helpful! I completely agree that communicating in advance is going to be a crucial part in executing this.
