Have You Noticed The IH Spam Posts?

Have you noticed the Spam posts that are clearly SEO firms trying to get backlinks for their customers. Anyone else notice this and anything that we can do?

Not sure how long this has been going on but I just started noticing today...

Just reporting them is useful. Then we shadow ban them, which means nobody can see their posts but them. And they go on posting into the void forever.

Was there another system before introducing the shadow ban? Would be pretty interested to hear about the experiences you made with it.

I would assume the rate of "real spam" would drastically drop and spammers avoid the platform in the future due to the higher efforts to always create accounts.

Also, looks like there is a bug where everyone can see shadow banned user posts. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

If anything, it shows how much spam we have to fight! 🙈

I think the bug explains it. Thanks for posting. And thanks for your hard work to make it a great community.

Hmm, I'll keep an eye out. Laser cutters and canopy tents on IH, what the.. 😅

All UGC has nofollow on them so you'd think it should be ok. Right @csallen?

Unfortunately this doesn't stop most of them from taking their clients' money and spamming IH anyway.
