Health Check - How are you staying active?

What have you all been doing to stay active during covid-19?

I know many people have been running a lot more lately (I’m a runner + also working on a startup targeting runners) so I decided to host a FREE “virtual” run that is supporting small restaurants and those most affected by COVID-19. We are collecting donations which will go towards purchasing gift cards and donating them to individuals/families in need.

PS we will be donating an additional $3 for every person who confirms their participation via Strava or IG (more info on our event page). Check it out here: https://vssl.run/uvMy

Whether you’re a runner or not, staying active has probably never been more important.

I've bought dumbbells and bench, working out while gyms are closed :)

I have ordered a bike, so I can get my condition back to what it was a few years ago. My personal goal is to get to drive about 150km a week, which is half of what I rode back in the days each week. I'm hoping to clear my mind on these rides in order to stay somewhat sane in this whole situation.

My gym has continued to publish at-home variations of what we would otherwise be doing in class. The owner is a friend, so he let me borrow some of the equipment. So I've been staying pretty consistent at 3-4 workouts per week. Usually, I'd be in the gym Monday-Friday, but have given myself some grace during this time.

Also, I use a Pomodoro method to work. Every 20min, I take a break, stretch, walk around. I've been doing this for years now and it's greatly improved my health in a handful of ways.

Also a runner. Staying active by running 40 - 50 miles per week.

Great idea Jasmine! Love the donation collection.

I have been following YouTube group workouts in the morning. Makes me feel like am in a studio even though am doing this at home.

Thank you! I've done a few live group workouts and they have made me appreciate working out in group settings so much more!

I've been doing a mixture of running, walking, 5x5 strength training and yoga. I try to do something every day, but reality is more like 4-5 times a week.

The idea of virtual running sounds fun. It is a way to stay active and healthy during the pandemic. My husband goes to the gym regularly. He is fond of being always fit. However, I wouldn't say I like sport. It makes me sick, and I get tired quickly. Instead of going to the gym, I take vitamins. They keep me safe and sound. I once had a problem with my skin. It was so dry, and I had to take a hyaluronic acid powder to have my tissues moist again. So if you are not an active person, use another method to stay healthy.

WHO recommends 75 minutes of activity each week or 150 moments of moderate-intensity, or even a combo of both. These recommendations may be achieved in the home, without a special equipment and with restricted space.
