Blogs and stack overflow just can't go into the same depth as courses or books for the same reason that tweets can't be as nuanced as a blog post. Source code alone can take forever to study - full time coding jobs at non-startups are largely about learning codebases. Its not efficient, but it is extremely valuable. Stack overflow and docs are good, but they are usually reference material. None of these cover extremely deep subjects with much depth - eg, operating system kernels, design patterns, architecture, how C programs turn into asm and run on the CPU, OOP principles in a thorough way...

Some books and courses are free, but in the time it takes to find a good free course you could have completed two paid ones. That said, "you don't know js" by Simpson is the best js book series out there and its free on github. Lots of good free content out there, but a lot of the best content asks for a very modest fee before you access it

By sticking with free though, you would be missing out on The C Programming Language, The Mythical Man Month, Clean Code, or dozens of other books; or the tech stack courses by grider or max, or the udacity programs, or the execute command spaced repetition content, the robert martin courses, the Looman unreal c++ content, or hundreds of others...
