Help, feedback appreciated

Hello entrepreneurs,

I have recently been trying to read up on as many entrepreneurship resources as possible. What I realized was that I was always trying to come up with a complicated and sophisticated solution instead of a simple and effective one. This also led me down the path of trying to create a solution without focusing on the initial problem which sometimes might not even be there.

After adjusting my approach, I have now come up with a solution that might solve a problem. Therefore, I am writing this post to get your opinion and feedback. After all it might not be really a problem.

What I am trying to build is a simple way of communicating an apartment's environment (vibes). Let me give you an example of a problem I personally faced. Just a couple of months ago I decided to move to New Haven, CT. As part of the moving process, I started looking for potential apartments in the area which was quite easy. A quick google search provided plenty of apartments which could be viewed on Zillow. After filtering out the apartments that interested me, I then went on some other platforms such as reddit and google to see the reviews about the complex in general. This was useful but not as easy, but it still can't be classified as a problem. Finally, after all this research I went to view this apartment that I like in person. I like the apartment and made sure to visit it in the day and at night too.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and this is where the problems start to show. For some random reason, on random days and hours I would hear very loud and annoying motorcycle noise coming from the street. Fortunately, I have some tolerance for loud noise so it didn't really ruin the apartment for me. The point is I really could not figure this out before renting even if I went to the place everyday unless it was a coincidence.

What I am thinking is what if I build a platform that shows what really happens daily in and around apartment complexes. The way it works is the user looking for an apartment searches the address and finds resources about it from other users that have lived in it. I imagine the search algorithm to be similar to that of upwork where packages are sorted depending on the seller's reputation and reviews. An explanation of the package shows what information will be provided. For example, videos of the street infront of the apartment and videos inside the complex plus the pros and cons.

It's really not something new. Some of the information can be found online but its scattered. I used to find most of the information on reddit but it wasn't really up to date and using the search bar in reddit communities is sometimes frustrating. I also have to mention that what inspired me too was seeing my international friends struggle to find the right apartment due to not knowing if the landlord is legit (facebook groups) and not being able to imagine the place as they can't just visit it since they live overseas.

My target audience is mostly people that are moving to new cities especially from far places. Therefore I will probably use facebook groups to validate my idea further. I wanted to get feedback from you guys first. Please let me know your thoughts ?

I also forgot to mention the monetization part. I think its too early to be thinking about it, but one of the ideas is allowing apartment owners to post "packages" of their apartments for a small fee. A renter might also be able to sell a package to a potential renter that is looking to rent at the same place or street.
