Help me analyze my growth strategy!

I'm currently working on codernotes.io, and aiming to get more people interested in the beta. My biggest challenge right now is getting developers interested in joining the beta, which releases in around a month.

Here are my current strategies, am I going in the right direction?

Pre-Beta:

  1. Cheap google ads for very specific niche keywords: $2/day
  2. Content marketing. Posting on the codernotes blog and soon to post some technical articles on dev.to
  3. Podcasting on First Time Founder
  4. Direct email outreach, have conversations with potential leads (cold email)

Post-Beta:

  1. Answer StackOverflow, Quora, and /r/learnprogramming questions with a link to the answer on CoderNotes, to build mindshare as well as to hopefully build interest in the product.

Is there anything I'm missing? What are your thoughts?

The channels you're using are straight forward and useful, the problem is whether you can do it faster and attract a border scale of audience. I would keep those channels at this stage and figure out ways to automate your tasks.

For example, content discovery on Quora / StackOverflow

Would you share a bit more about the performance of $2/day Google Ads, so we can give more opinions? @Kevcon80

      Hey Felix,

Thanks for the advice, I actually have killed the google ads campaign as it wasn’t getting any traction. I think I’ll stick to the other methods I mentioned above.

Hey Kevin - Here are a few initial thoughts after reading through your post.

    1. I'm not sure what your budget allows but just know that it may be difficult to get much traction from Google Ads at only $2/day. If there are clicks cheap enough to get some on that budget, expect that volume will be very low.
    2. The content marketing and podcasting are both good plans but will take time to mature unless you can get one to take off when shared on HN or Reddit. I wouldn't expect a lot to come from owned content on two new properties within a month's time.
    3. I think the 'answer questions on SO, Quora & Reddit' is a good plan and should be considered pre-beta as well as post-beta. You want to get in front of people experiencing the need right now and that's a good way to do it.

Three other things I would consider:

    1. There are some blog posts with lists of tools to help manage code snippets and other related functions. I would consider reaching out to those publications/authors and asking if they want to write a piece about CoderNotes on their blog so you can reach a new audience without a lot of effort or $ on your end.
    2. Similarly, in addition to your own podcast, I would recommend pitching yourself as a potential guest on several other existing podcasts. Again, leverage other established audiences.
    3. Post your product on ProductHunt as well.

    Hope this helps!

I can't top your answer, I agree with all of it, on my prospective writing a blog post on someones blog is a great idea, as well as the podcast idea.

Note: just posted your site in a few Facebook groups and WhatsApp groups - hope it helps

      Thanks for the awesome feedback!

I'd love to be doing this right now, but the way the site is set up does not allow for it. I agree with having this ready ASAP though.

I'm not sure what your budget allows but just know that it may be difficult to get much traction from Google Ads at only $2/day. If there are clicks cheap enough to get some on that budget, expect that volume will be very low.

Yep, volume is minuscule. I'm thinking of shutting this down.

I love your other idea of leveraging other audiences, and I am definitely going to keep this in mind.

      Thanks a ton!
