Help me create a vision statement
Pardon the self-centered post, but I'm out of big picture thinking energy. I'd love and appreciate your help! I'm building Wildkard (https://wildkard.io) - a social engagement app for youth sports teams + communities.
We're a vertical social network for youth sports communities (athletes, coaches, parents, fans) striving to reinvent engagement around the local game .. think ESPN for every high-school game.
We aim to achieve this by marrying principles of social networks, creator economies, and team sports. Our mission is to deliver an engaging sports experience to 1 billion athletes worldwide. Why are we doing this: (a) Personal passion and opportunity to bring this feverishly passionate community online in a new way; (b) improve youth athlete retention in sport.
A short, succinct, but powerful and inspiring vision statement is the need.

Is your app for the players to communicate with each or for the coaches to communicate with players? From what I can tell on your site, it seems like it's both of those things so maybe that broadness is why you feel like you're struggling to come up with a vision statement. I definitely struggling to come up with anything short and sweet.
Also, what pain point are you solving for high school athletes? I'd assume most of them already have text chains started and/or follow each other on social media. Having a better understanding of that would help identify the mission statement, as well.
Wildkard boosts social engagement for sports teams and their fans. So we’re targeting coaches, players, parents, and fans. It’s a community platform. You bring up a valid point about narrowing in on a persona and picking the problem.
Gotcha, that makes sense.
You can create multiple personas for each group and then develop marketing language around those.
So like:
"Patty the Parent" cares about the schedule and any last minute changes or cancellations because she has 2 other kids and is very busy, but will likely never engage in Xs and Os conversation.
