Hi, I recently launched a niche jobs board for rewarding jobs that give something back to society (https://findrewardingjobs.com). I've been looking at ways to grow visitors to the site and came up with an idea I'd like to propose to the IH community:
Post your idea or suggestion for how I could grow my users as a reply or comment and I'll try it out and report back on how it went, time taken and how many new visitors were achieved.
Next Monday I'll pick a product from one of the comments (probably one with most upvotes) and hand the baton over for people to suggest growth ideas for them to try out and report back on, then they pick a product the following Monday etc. etc. If you'd like to be considered just include a link to your product at the end of your suggestion.
Ideally try and make your suggestion as specific as possible (e.g. instead of post to Reddit, which specific subreddits etc.)
I'm gonna kick this off and see how it goes, if you're interested give me your suggestion on how to get more users to findrewardingjobs.com (job hunters, not employers btw) as a comment/reply to this thread and let's see what happens!
Not a bad site, I think there is room for the market in recruiting because it’s so expensive to do right now with existing solutions (indeed, etc.)
But you really need to add a geographical search feature or some way to indicate if a job is remote or not and have some 1-click way for applicants to apply for them. (For example create a profile, and with 1 click apply for positions - allow them 5 free 1-click applications a week, and then charge them a subscription to submit more on your site in order to avoid spam and make sure people are discriminating with their applications). This will drive users to your site because it’s way more convenient than existing alternatives to just press “submit” to apply to jobs rather than go through all the bs these companies make you go through. Of course because you don’t have any users now, companies won’t post on your site and submit to this 1-click policy until your proven. So they way I would do it is 1 let companies post for free on your site, and make it easy as fuck for them to post (whole process from creating an account to posting a job should be less than 30 seconds). If you get lots of spam posts, make them pay 1$ to post, if they don’t get any applicants promise to refund them minus transaction fees, this will eliminate 99% of your spam, while at the same time not hinder serious job posters at all. Since your not even at that stage, I WOULD NEVER LINK TO ANY OTHER sites away from yours, I would post those jobs yourself on your site, and allow applicants to “apply” independently on your site with the option to 1 button click apply for members (the whole process of creating an account, filling in info, submitting resume and applying for a job should not take more than 30 seconds). Then I would manually submit all these applicants on the host website, and you should be able to manually keep up with doing it for the first few hundred users, then once some people start paying you can hire a VA to continue to manually process these while you market to companies (once you have even a few dozen users companies will want to post and they will adapt to your automated system and if you find jobs for them you could get 15% of their salary thus enabling you to expand even more). And then your site will take off.
As of now your site is just a bunch of links to other sites to apply, except disorganized and harder to filter, it’s not really value add - even more your niched down into some esoteric social or volunteering thing which doesn’t help market your product either. This is why I think your having problems getting users now.
