HELP ME Make a decision I have been stuck on for days!
I'm about to jump into the WordPress site maintenance space offering a bit of a more premium side to the regular plugin, theme and WordPress updates etc.
I have been juggling between different colour palettes for around 3 days now and I just can't decide on what to go with.
I am basically juggling between a dark or a light theme.
I have read on different sites a bit that darker colours are quite trendy at the moment as well as give off the premium vibe I'm going for. White/light theme, on the other hand, looks really clean.
My worry is that a simple black/grey/white theme will look boring and bland but I don't wanna make my site look like a rainbow.
Any and all advice/feedback is appreciated :D ❤
There are 1000 decisions that that will make or break you. This isn't one of them :)
And like most business decisions, it's not a permanent decision! You can change it later faster than you've already spent thinking about it.
Pick one and run, you got this!
Flip a coin and launch the thing. Very likely that it won't make a massive difference. Also 'quite trendy at the moment' is incredibly subjective at the scale of The Internet. Sounds like they both look great, just pick and and ask your first visitors and customers what they think.
That's very true. I've gotten stuck on quite a small thing. The thing is that I'm at least starting out as a one-man project so the site development will also be done by me. I, therefore, would not want to be changing the colours a lot once it's all done since that would then take valuable time out of other parts to make the 'business' move forward.
Well, that can be easily avoided. You should be able to write your CSS/SCSS to be able to swap color schemes pretty easily (or if not the entire color scheme, the primary colors).
It's already doing that ;)

I agree that it wouldn't matter that much if both design are great in communicating the content to your customer.
When your customer first visits your website, your customer is not going to think "Oh wow it's not a dark theme. Forget it. Move on"
Your customer is going to start looking at your headline and try to understand what are you selling.
In my opinion, the content is more important.

I wouldn't let something like this hold you up and would just pick one and add the other later as an additional option or swap it out if it seems like a problem. We could sit here forever making decisions like this instead of just launching.

Colors matter a lot. Be sure of that, in whatever stage you are because the first impression is the one that counts
It doesn't matter so much, especially when it comes to idea validation. Have you talked with your potential customers?
I don't think it matters that much for a MVO. You can always seek feedback and change it once your project has gain traction
Why not try both? See what works out best by testing them both.

That’s what I’ve also been thinking but then again I’m not sure everyone would like a dark theme. For sure it’s something new and quite trendy when almost all other sites are standard light but hmm
Hopefully going to get some more responses to help me make up my mind.
