Help me pick a logo for CustomerFind

Hey all! CustomerFind is a search engine for finding new customers that I started building a couple of weeks ago. I just pushed up an MVP that you can actually log into and use and save your searches and stuff, yay! Would love your feedback.

https://customerfind.net/

So anyway now the really important question is which logo do I use for the favicon!?1!? 🤔 I paid a graphic designer hundreds of dollars to design the four variations you see here*. Please let me know which one you think conveys the message "a search engine to find new customers" best.

Thank you for your feedback!

  • I didn't really.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of them fit with the product. I'm naturally pretty skeptical of products that claim to find users for you. IMHO having an emoji-style icon doesn't convey trust.

That is great feedback, thank you and you are right that emoji icons don't convey trust.

I am also skeptical of products that claim to find users for you. I was surprised when this engine actually yielded promising looking results for my own projects. Early days yet but am testing it out now and will report back with results.

If you let me know about your product I'll see if I can come up with some keywords that your customers might be using.

When I was trying the search the example comes across as super complex. For quite a while I thought it was showing the complete format for a search (instead of each line being an example of a different search. It's the fact that 'I' is capitalized and nothing else is that makes it read like a long sentence. Maybe put each line in quotations?

James thank you I never would have realized this. I've pushed a fix by adding numbers to the list - can you let me know if it clarifies the examples?

          1. 2

hmm the numbers still make me think I have to do 1, then 2, then 3 etc. Maybe replace the numbers with little search icons?

Also super nitpicky but I adding 'would' to the end of the placeholder text in the search bar might make it clearer. Assume that the user wont read any of the explanation text and will jump straight to typing stuff in the box. Make it as easy as possible for them to see it working.

On that note one option would be to make the suggestions explicit i.e. give the users ones that they can type directly into the box and get results with.

Try it out by entering 'app for sailing'

Hey I've updated the app with your suggestions, including example links to searches which give interesting results. If you get time to check it out let me know what you think.

Nice! I think it makes it much easier to understand how to do a successful search.

Great ideas. Will implement these thanks!

Agreed with Chris' comment. The Favicon is not THAT important and you risk damaging your brand identity.

Also just tried customerfind and looks good! Maybe 1-2 line explanations would be useful for the first users?

    1. 1

Thanks very much for trying it out. Do you mean 1-2 line explanations on the landing page or here on IH? As a first time user what was the first information you wanted to know?

Chris - I'm not sure any of these do it for me. My advice as a designer of 20 years - maybe hold on the visual icon to start until you really understand your brand. You can choose an awesome typeface and use a logo mark. Maybe CF for your favicon.

That said, I just tried Customer Find. At first, I thought it was a simple Twitter search. And it might be for now - but I immediately understood the value and potential of an idea like this. I just tried searching 'child creativity' and had a bunch of awesome results. I even messaged one potential partner. This is a wicked idea.

Glad it worked for you Barry! Since your product is for parents you want keywords that parents use when talking about their kid's creative endeavours. As the parent of a very creative kid myself, I found these which seem to yield some results:

Thank you for the feedback on the favicons.

      CF for your favicon

This is genius. I will probably just do this. Thank you.

@chr15m Also, this is what I mean by a word logo mark. nice font well placed on the page. That's all you need for now. https://summerian.net/

Thanks Barry, I took your advice and used 'CF' for the favicon for now. Let me know what you think: https://customerfind.net/

            Great man! Looks solid!

      2. 1

No prob Chris. Happy to help you choose a typeface for a logo wirdmark too if you need.

    Do you have more options?

    1. 1

Yes, I think 'CF' in the header typeface might work as @barrylachapelle suggested. If I think of anything better I will ping you for feedback. Thank you!
