Help me re-invest the revenue to achieve long term growth.

I am building an app (Taskito) for over a year now. The app has over 65,000 downloads and $1000 monthly revenue. I have a full-time job so the revenue from the app is a plus.

I would like to re-invest the revenue to grow the app. At the moment, the app offers one-time purchase so it's difficult for me to grow the app via ads. I am working on adding more features (cloud sync, web app) and moving towards a subscription based model.

I want to spend a better part of the revenue to have an impact in the long term growth of the app. What are different things that I could try that will help me achieve sustainable growth?

Some ideas I have:

  • Improve the play store listing by hiring a copywriter.
  • Get better screenshots designed by a professional.

In your experience, what are other strategies that I could try?

    Hi Jay,

To achieve this type of growth, you’ll need to develop a strong relationship with the customer. That is what truly matters.

Get them to view you as a source of value. Over deliver on the value you provide. It creates loyal, long-term customers.

Make sure they’re on your mailing list. That is the main channel that you can use to find what resonates with them, and sell them more product.

If you’re still looking for help, I may be of assistance.

I would hire a copywriter to write tons of great content to build up your SEO.

I know that SEO is important even for mobile apps, but not sure how much important it is.

Possibly a promo video for the play store? Those short clips that provide an overview of your app. I think those help boost conversion in the iOS App Store, not sure about the Play Store though.

Another great suggestion. That definitely helps with play store as well.

My suggestion would be to hire a designer to create a logo and color palette. For example if you search for task manager in the google play store a lot of icons are blue and look similar to yours. So maybe changing the logo and your color palette helps you to stand out.

The screenshots looks already quite professional to me, so I think improving these has no priority.

That's a good suggestion. Initially, the color palette and logo colors were different than most of the apps in that category. It seems like most of the productivity apps go with a "blue" logo and a "checkmark", I decided to do the same to optimize for conversion rate.

Maybe that helped in short term. Long term strategy could be about standing out.
