Help me validate a project idea

Hey Indie Hackers! Long time lurker here.

I, like (probably) many others here, have a long list of product/business ideas that I keep track of.

I put each idea into a Google sheet and add relevant ideas, validations, pros/cons and notes etc to each idea.

I'd like to know how others here keep track of their ideas and once deciding that you're going to work on something, what tools you use to:

  1. keep yourself accountable (due dates/milestones)
  2. manage tasks (to do lists, kanban boards etc)
  3. manage your own knowledge repository (think marketing ideas, release strategies, competitor analysis, notes from conversations with potential customers)

I'm thinking of building a web app that would do the following:

Project idea repository: Keep your business ideas in one place. Add notes, relevant attachments, to do lists, validations, do a pro/con analysis on each idea
Milestone manager: Work towards milestones. Log your MVP completion date, public launch etc
Check ins: Setup custom check-ins to keep you active and accountable
Task manager: Not sure how necessary this would be though, Trello works well for me at the moment

Hoping others have the same problem that I could (potentially) solve. Is this a platform you peeps would be interested in?

Cheers!

Hi Matt. I’ve used a kanban board in Jira to keep track of my ideas. It’s grown out of control (too many ideas, too limited in validation), so I quickly built thestartupmatrix.com to test the quality of my ideas. This is only tackeling a small part of the overall «startup ideas» problem, so would be happy to talk and understand more of the problem. This tool is not really an attempt for a startup, I just want a good way to organize my thoughts and make sure I move forward with the right ones. Let me know what you think.

I really dig what you built at thestartupmatrix.com! My idea ended up just shy of the green haha. Will definitely use it for some of my other ideas.

I may not have worded my original post very well but essentially I'm considering building a platform to keep all business ideas, notes, validations, attachments in once place. While simultaneously using the platform to manage the todo's, tasks, check-ins of my active project.

Is this something you think you could/would use? Or are you happy enough with your existing tools?
