Help Me Validate My Idea

Hi IH's

Please help me validate this idea by letting me know if this is a course people would be interested in paying for.

I am a Brand Manager and considering launching an online course that aims to help anyone become a Brand Manager without a University degree.

The course will cover a wide range of topics around Brand Management Principles that can be applied to any type of industry or business.

The Course Outline Is As Follows:

  1. An intro into Marketing and Brand Management
  2. How to unearth Consumer Insights?
  3. Managing the Strategic Brand Positioning development process
  4. How to build a clearly differentiated communication strategy?
  5. Building a long-term Brand strategy - vision, mission, financial goals, market share etc
  6. Translating the strategy into an annual operating Brand Plan
  7. Aligning the business around the plan to get buy-in & support
  8. How to build an Innovation pipeline and execute?
  9. Managing the P&L and take corrective actions based on a set number of strategies
  10. Formulating brand Advertising budget requirements based on activity for the year and tracking spend
  11. Sourcing and management of External Marketing agencies
  12. Developing campaigns together with briefing templates that can be used
  13. Measuring progress
  14. Bonus: Brand Challenge which I will personally review and give feedback on

Thanking you in advance!

I think this works because junior employees can pitch their bosses on this course and get the company to pay for it instead of the employee out of pocket.. I'd think about tailoring this to that audience - the employee that wants to add brand management skills to their toolbox that comes from the marketing or communications dept.

      Great advice - thanks!

    Hey,

I too am a brand manager, and have been for a few years. That looks like a course that I would buy to become better at my job.

I got hired by a startup a few years ago with fairly little brand manager experience (just communications and a bit of branding). I don't know if my path was common though. Many other job postings for Brand Managers usually require a degree or years of experience. So, I guess I am having a hard time believing that someone who simply takes a course in brand management could get hired as a brand manager.

Rather, I think your target audience could be more people like me, who already have the job and want to improve, or entrepreneurs looking to bootstrap. So I might try to sell with that audience in mind.

    That course outline looks great.

Thanks for your response @williamzmorgan - much appreciated!

How much would you pay for a course like this and how long would you expect the content to be?
