Help Me Validate My Idea: Trending Dropshipping Products

Hi folks,

I'm brainstorming ideas with my partner and we are currently thinking about creating a web app that brings forth the top trending dropshipping and e-commerce products. Basically Google Trends but focused on products that are spiking in interest . This would enable e-commerce merchants to identify products they should stock (e.g. Fidget Spinners were huge for about 6 months).

I'm hoping there are a few people out there who have gone through the process of identifying niche/trending products that could chime in, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Calling all shopify merchants and dropshippers as well!
