⚠️help me validate⚠️ turning leads into paying customers using recommendation systems for course creators and coaches: a Tiktok for learning
One of the top problems of course creators and coaches is to get leads and turn them into paying customers.
The main reason for this is because it is not easy to get the right online training in front of the right student at the right time. That's exactly what we know how to solve at RecoMind using recommendation systems.
What we wanted to validate is the following:
- a course creator would post a course or coach session into a platform
- the platform will attract students and will use recommendation systems to send the right offer to the right student
- when a student buys a course we just charge a fee for helping you get the extra sale.
Who is interested on this?
- Edit: what if there is no platform? 1 and 2 goes away and students buy a course directly on the creators page?
If you're creating a course platform you might be locking the course creators into it - i.e. I probably won't use a webbased editor to create my content for example.
If the platform allows me to upload my content (PDF, videos, whatever) then it makes sense to me.
The value to me would be 'attracting students & getting sales' and not 'a plaftorm to create my course' necessarily.

it would definitely help. I'd see it just like another venue to sell/market my products at (assuming the fees aren't crazy high :)).

As we talked about, I already have a platform (craftsmancreative.co) and most of the traffic is directly going to a course landing page, so there isn't a current need for a recommendation algorithm.
Now, having your own platform that can recommend my courses that I submit to you (or add you as an affiliate for) makes more sense, because now we're talking about people that you're reaching that I am not, and so it's valuable to submit my courses to you to recommend to your visitors and send them my way. Love that approach.

Agreed with @peterj 's comment that the "platform" would be less valuable since there are a number of other great ones already out there that are fully featured/tested.
The marketing angle is very interesting, though. Huge problem to solve. In online courses, the personality of the instructor is often times the key selling ingredient, so giving them the opportunity to see the instructor "in action" could be really valuable. Of course, social proof is also super valuable, so seeing a mixture of instructor videos and student testimonials could be quite interesting.
If you're able to go cross platform (e.g. courses from Teachable, Udemy, Kajabi, etc) that's also super valuable since its a pain for students to look across all of them to find the best offerings, and its quite difficult to cross-compare. There's also an opportunity for a video platform like this to become a "TrustPilot" styled course reviewer to attract potential students, then provide those potential students with the videos of instructors in action.
thanks for the info @KashD. A recommendation system is agnostic to the platform, so this can be cross-platform.
If I understand, what you are saying is to have a video Truspilot-like web where students would be showed courses, and then they click the course they like and buy the course in the page of the creator. Is that what you are thinking?
Try just about anything once :)... especially if it helps an indiehacker creator. LMK what you need from me.
