Hi! Again I have an idea that I want to share, and I really need your feedback this time.
Probably it´s just a crazy project, but it´s been a while in my head, so I want put it here and see what you think about it.
First, some background about the idea, many years ago I spent a year in Canadá and one of my bosses at the time had an organization that helped little companies in a country in Africa (I don´t remember which one, sorry).
And from there to now I keep thinking about this crazy idea, what if we can ask for a little help from people around the world to make a big change here?
I was thinking to ask anyone to donate $1, for example, and with a lot of people, we can help non profit organizations here in my country (here, the dolar it´s very strong comparing to the argentinian peso).
That´s not money at all to A LOT of people, and if we can make it start, we can work to make a difference helping people in a lot of ways, and of course make it 100% transparent, anybody can see where the money goes, what difference it makes and then decide if they want to keep helping or not.
Please let me read your feedback, if it´s a good idea, I have to figure it out how to make the money to het here as cheap as possible, but that´s a problem for next time :)
Hi,
I think it is a solid idea if you can reach donors. I used to donate $1 dollar a month to an organization doing this. They stopped for some reason a couple of years ago.
Here are some others that I found:

The hard part is getting enough people to contribute. It might be good to have a story or angle that would make the idea spread. I think people are inundated with donation requests so it needs to be unique somehow.
Maybe you could donate to a different charity every day and write a blog post or create a video about why you chose the charity?
Stephanie Zito donated $10 a day to a different charity and got some buzz with it.

I'm in if you pull this together. :-)

I thought about something like that too.
The only way I think it would work would be a personalized help. So, you would post the information about people who really need help, and then update it in a real-time (with photos, videos, interview, anything else).
Another thing is to post names of donors right on the website with report where their money went. It may be not easy to implement, but it's doable and pretty impressive (in the past I helped some organization helping people with the oncological illness - when I had more money than now - and they do exactly what I described).
Because everyone is tired of "just to help somebody" and many people don't believe their money really goes to the right place and help any real people.
Hi! Thank you for your answer, I actually think that this is a GREAT idea, it´s direct and transparent, you put the need online and solve it in real time, after that, you can actually make a follow up to make donors happier.
That could actually work, now I have to see how to make it work all year long, and see the legal part :)
No worries, let me know if you need some help.
Thank yo, I don´t know where to begin to implement this, maybe I have to stop and start doing it properly with this new way of looking at it that you give me, and after that start really seeing what I need to do, because there´s a lot of legal things that I don´t know about, to do it properly
Hi!
I understand it's not easy. But I would suggest to think out the easiest and simplest way to provide the desired service/functionality that can be done manually (what doesn't scale) and see how it works. If it's doable (for you) and if it's motivating enough.
I think the idea is so good that it's already implemented in several different ways. There are non profit organizations world wide that do this already (UNICEF, Red cross and many many others) that accept contributions and do humanitarian work in other countries regions.
These orgs rely on a lot of volunteers to execute the work and is not a small endeavor.
Yes, thank you very much for that, recently I knew Kivo, I thought about an idea like that one, being the link between people and small non profit organization that can provide a different approach in how they´re involved in the community, and be able to work with smaller organizations. For example, in my province, Red Cross don´t exist anymore, sometimes a lot of huge non profit works in extremely needed countries, and I think that we´re something in between.
Hm that's true. Specially if help can get to those small communities that often times don't have none else to help.
Again, I think the idea is very good. It's a hard work but worth doing it.
To be honest, I totally forgot about the big ones, that´s how much present they´re in some places :)
I keep seeing wonderful people and ideas that helps people with very little advertising and they deserve the help that we could provide, that´s what motivates this idea. (Also, and on the side, I was part of Red Cross and saw a lot of bad things that until today kept me very sad, but that´s another story)
Thank you for your answer, it awesome for me that you think that´s a good idea, I´m afraid of making the first step to try this, that´s why I post it here, I needed a reply like yours :)
I have to learn more about how we can legally enter the money and deliver it, because, for me, transparency is the most important thing in this project.
