Help Pivoting my product - Should I switch from Freemium to Free Trial?

Hi All,

I run a B2C focus app called Flowful. It's in the generative music space.

I've recently looked to make 2 pretty major pivots - leaning more into the productivity app side, and directing my user persona more towards 'deep workers' than 'anyone who wants to focus'.

To go along with these changes, I am heavily considering switching from a freemium model to a free trial model. I believe it fits better with the changes to user persona I will be making.

However, I'm worried my current users will become very negative about the product because of this.

Do any B2C founders have experience with this? I would love to hear some case studies on the difficulties, and hopefully rewards, of ditching your freemium offering.

    Hello!

I don't have much experience in pricing, but on my application, I had a completely free model and I switched to a free trial model. Well, it's true that I didn't take much risk because the service is brand new. I did however launch a very small subscription, $3.49/mo to replace it and gave more weight to the larger offers. And in your case to propose a free offer when your offer is really cheap, I think, from a totally personal point of view, that it is a bit of a shame.

However, why don't you ask the main people involved, your users? I guess if you are thinking about this pivot, it's because your service is not profitable as you wish, I think the best thing you can do is to talk to your users to find the right formula that could suit you all.
