Help request: Landing page converting at a whopping... 0%

Hi IndieHackers, I'd love to get some feedback on our landing page(s). We just started marketing our SaaS with a PPC campaign on July 30th, and it seems to be getting a decent amount of traffic and our CTR is good; however, so far we've managed... 0 conversions.

We've tried a couple of different tests, e.g.: ad linking directly to the home page vs directing to a specific landing page aligned with the PPC ad, and a couple of different CTA buttons.

The pages we're working on are:

  1. https://www.digichef.co
  2. https://www.digichef.co/recipe-costing

Any feedback at all would be amazing! Thanks!

I think your headlines can be more focused on the "what's in it for me" aspect... spelling it out for people instead of having them figure it out.

By way of example, "Food costs. Without the formulas." ... I guess I know what that means, but if I own a restaurant, I still have to figure out exactly what that means. I don't know your industry or target audience, so this could be off, but better would be something like:

"Get the LOWEST price for your food, every time. Guaranteed!"

    And under that...

"No more wasted money. We track changing food prices and notifiy you when it's time to buy (at the lowest price)!"

Now if I own a restaurant, that's intriguing. I know exactly what I'm getting and what the benefit is to me.

Thanks for the reply. I think that's a good point with regards to the headlines, and focusing on the outcome instead of the feature. Appreciate you taking the time to review our landing page!

Notes as I go through the page:

    1. Clear headline, I think I get it. It's an app to help chefs keep track of dish costs
    2. "Request a Demo". I don't like this, I'd rather watch a video or play around in a sandbox. Or just try it for free for a period. I don't really want to get on a zoom call with you.
    3. Yeah I think a video would be really good.
    4. It's clearly not a product for me so I think I can't really help you too much more.

Thanks for the reply. Those are good points, and we're going to test a free trial period instead of trying to schedule demos. We're also working on some videos, which I think is a really good shout.

The sandbox idea is very interesting... thanks for bringing that up. That might be something worth playing around with. Appreciate it.

Hi Julien, thanks for the detailed response. I really do appreciate you taking the time to review our landing page and provide us with some critical feedback.

      ### WRT "Outside the landing page"

Definitely a good point that my post didn't provide any detail wrt the target customer. Our product started as a scratch your own itch as my co-founder is a Chef who manages a multi-location restaurant business.

I think those are all really good questions, and I believe that we're targeting the correct people with the correct language, as our ad clicks are matching for phrases like 'recipe cost software' or 'food cost calculation software', etc.

For sure though, there's always room to improve and refine.

      ### WRT Landing Page Feedback

      #### Messaging

      • I appreciate the feedback re: the messaging, and we'll definitely work on that. Neither my co-founder or I have much in the way of developed copy-writing skill, apparently 😅. We're going to take this feedback on board and try to take another shot at it.

      • CTAs: I actually thought we'd got this right by just having all of the CTAs as a 'book demo' CTA; however, I didn't really think of the one in the Navbar, if that's the extra CTA you're referring to. Regardless, we've now made sure that all CTAs point to a free trial.

      #### Design

      • Are you able to help me understand the recommendation to change away from orange? It's very much our brand colour, so I'd just love to understand this a bit better.

      • We're going to test removing the 'How it works', thanks!

      • Moved the social proof to be under the hero section. Great tip, thanks!

      #### Offer

      • That's a really good shout wrt the plan names, thanks. We were trying insert some industry terminology, but I can see how that might be counter-productive in this circumstance, so we've changed these up.

      • Thanks for highlighting that we should highlight the middle plan more, we'll definitely do that, thanks.

I really do appreciate all of the feedback. Are you able to help me understand your comment at the end of your reply wrt being bombarded with info? Do you feel that there is just too much copy? Too many sections? Or that the copy is too technical?

      Thanks again!
