Hey community,
I have a full-time job, and I've been working on a website project on the side for a few months, and lately I'm losing steam / motivation.
I'm not sure how to get people to use it/share it. Generally I get paralysis from trying to share it with other people. Whether if its Friends or strangers from Reddit, because I'm a perfectionist and all I see are flaws, and I can't imagine why someone would want to use it, even though I put a few months of work in it, and finished a decent MVP.
Idk. I just got a really negative inner critic that makes me question myself, and makes me want to give up. I didn't even do that much work to share, or try to market it. I just immediately discourage myself.
Anyone have tips to get over the mental hurdle? My mental self-talk is really crap.
Hey frolickingKorgi,
I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with motivation on your project. It can be tough to keep going when it feels like there's no one using or interested in what you're doing.
One thing that might help is to shift your focus from trying to get people to use your website to simply putting it out there and seeing what happens. It's okay if no one uses it at first, or if it's not perfect. The important thing is that you keep working on it and making progress.
If you can, try to find someone who is willing to give you feedback on your project. Getting some constructive feedback can help you see it from a different perspective and make it easier to identify areas that need improvement.
Finally, remember that it takes time and persistence to succeed with any project. Don't be discouraged if things don't happen overnight. If you keep working at it, eventually you'll start to see some results.
I hope this helps!
ask your inner critic how is he so sure? does he have data? he doesn't ! so to see who is right you need to conduct an experiment by sharing your app with everyone and than decide who is right?
