Help with landing page/branding
I am working on completing the MVP for my idea and would like to get a landing page set up to collect signups as well as prepare for a beta launch.
Should I work with a designer to create a professionally designed landing page (and logo), or should use a standard template to build something in Gatsby? I'm a great developer, but not so much of a designer. I'm also open to teaming up with a UI/UX designer, but a bit hesitant if I don't know their track record.
Can you please share ideas on the best course of action? If you suggest using a designer or teaming up with someone, please feel free to make recommendations. Thank you.
For the MVP don't waste your time on a custom landing page. You don't even know your target audience yet (so how can you build a brand?).
A lot of designers will create you a nice site, but it will lack a lot of things that increase conversions.
Either use https://carrd.co/ it is cheap and good :)

You've put in a tremendous effort on SaaS Pages. It's pretty cool. I found it a bit overwhelming at first, but the filters were helpful.
I just signed up for Versoly, and I'm very impressed with the UI. I then signed up for Card to get a feel for how it compared. I liked that they offered integration widgets, etc. However, their free plan didn't let me try any of that. Only thing I could do was a few embeds for Stripe, PayPal, etc. Their templates were not appealing (too simple), and I didn't want to continue at that point.
I went back to Versoly and noticed that you support integrations as well (I did a quick check on the landing page after that, and I guess I read that block on your landing page, but somehow didn't remember).
Do I have the option to download the project and host the landing page on my server? The way I understand it, I have to pay a monthly fee for hosting on a custom domain. I have seen the option to download HTML/CSS/JS in the pricing model....is that essentially allowing me to download the project and not have to continue monthly? Thanks!
Thanks, we plan to make SaaS Pages even easier to use in the next few months. Imagine accounts where you can favourite blocks and then only see them.
For monthly we host it for you. If you want to download you have to pay for annual :)
We might do a one off charge, where you can export the site if that sounds interesting to you.

BTW, I've noticed a couple of styling issues in the CTA block where buttons are stacked and the testimonials block in mobile view.
Which blocks? the numbers if possible :)

Yeah some sort of report issues functionality would be good.
Also I have planned to go in and add like 20/30 extra blocks and tidy the old ones up as well. So if you want any let me know.
I was thinking about a block where I could choose an auth provider (Google and Github in my case) without writing much code. I will probably have to enter some credentials/settings to enable this. Upon successful sign-in, I would like to redirect to my app.
Not sure if this is easily doable through a block.
I think there's a psychological thing with paying monthly for something I might do as a one-time thing (but having annual access is useful).
I think another cool thing you could offer is to extract blocks from other sites that you're showcasing where I can choose a block that looks like the postman CTA.
Yeah would be nice to integrate that, something like "get this block on Versoly"

Can I export my site?
Yes, on any paid plan you can download a zip-file with your website's code, images and other files.
You could charge a bit more to just do this as a one-time thing or something. I once made a custom logo on LogoJoy and exported it for $65 I think. This site would definitely be worth around $49 or $79ish.
Yeah think we have just allowed anyone to export but if churn gets to high we will remove it.
Go on Dribbble and get some inspiration of landing pages you like and see if you can integrate some of their ideas and make it your own.

Personally I do not think logo's are that important, so I would not spend much time on that.
Usually I ask someone thinking about logos's how man logos of 10 small products they use can they remember.
For the landing page, communicating the problem/solution is the most critical part. I would start with something as simple as a Headline/subheadline with an optin.
Explainer videos are great but more work. (I think I posted about approach/resources on how to create explainer video)
You make a good point about the logo. I am going to scratch that off the list. :)
Since people associate good design with the quality of the product, I wanted to ensure that I have that covered before charging for the product. Maybe users won't care about it so much either if the product delivers as promised.
